Friday, September 30th - Cor van Egmond and Chad Hall

Image
On Friday, Dewey and I had the priviledge of taking Chad Hall and Cor van Egmond fishing. All in all it was a great day. We fished from about 7:20 until about 11:30. We caught a total of about 21 Bull Reds, 3 Shark, several Gaftop and hardheads - and I believe I jumped a Tarpon. The Tarpon rolled twice - then stripped line and pulled out. Although it was an experience, I wish he would have hit my bigger rod - But still - a great day fishing.

Here was the first of many Reds that Chad caught on the day. The wind was 10-15 out of the NE - and we fish and incoming tide. Water was off color, but 84.7 degrees.

Dewey seemed to be that master of the Red Fish today. If I am correct, he caught 6 or 7 Reds. Here was one of the ones he caught.

Here is another Red that Chad caught.

Although my main job was to make sure that Chad and Cor caught fish, I was able to catch 5 or 6 Reds myself. Also, first thing when we got there - I hooked what I believe to have been a Tarpon. I saw him break water twice - and then break my line.

Here is an action picture that Chad took while I was catching a Bull Red. I think he might have "chummed" this one up ... grin.

Here is Chad with his 3rd of 5 total Bull Reds. By the way, don't believe Chad when he tells you he has a weak stomach - - I saw him getting his orange juice breakfast out there a good 3 or 4 feet! Big Jetboys Thrusters really kicked in!

Here is Cor with another fine Bull Red. On the day Cor caught 6 Reds. He said these were the biggest fish he had ever caught! Love putting people on their first Bull Reds!

Here was the last Red of the day for Dewey. As best as we can figure, Dewey caught 6 Bull Reds on the day.

Tuesday - September 20th - Green then she Blew

Image
We had a short trip Tuesday out to the Jetties. Dewey and I took Lorri and Brandon early Tuesday Morning. The water was very calm - light breeze - Water was 85.7 and beautiful at the end of the Jetty with alot of baitfish popping. It promised to be a good day - - - but - - - first Lorrie turned green - then she blew. We went inshore a bit more thinking that might help - - - green then she blew again. So we called it a day. In the short time Brandon caught a nice 34" Ling and we caught several small shark. I am not saying it was a short trip - but when we made it back to the Truck the coffee in my travel mug was still hot! By the way .... and remedies for Sea Sickness once you are on the boat? I found that talking about Chili-cheese tator tots doesn't help..... (grin)

September 14th, 2005 - Dewey, Lynn and I headed to the North Jetty on a beautiful but windy Thursday morning. Wind was SSE at about 15-20 making fishing the channel side of the Jetty quite difficult. We ended up fishing the outside at a spot we had never fished before. On the day we caught 5 small shark and 4 Bull Reds and we lost 2 more. Water was 85.7 and we fished a pretty slack tide. We came in around noon.

Thursday, September 8th, 2005 - Neil Jackson

Image
It was a bumpy day out at the Jetties. Neil Jackson, Dale Girod, Dewey and I headed out to see what we could find. In about 3 hours fishing we were able to catch 18 Bull Reds. The water was murky, wind was 10-15 out of the ENE - and there was a weak outgoing tide. Here is Neil Jackson's first of his 4 Bull Reds. By the way ... he squealed like a little girl when he was catching fish .... (laughing).

Here is another Red that Neil caught. Neil did a pretty good job fishing. On the day he landed 4 Reds. At one point, Dale and Neil caught the same fish! That's right - two hooks in the Red's Mouth! Tag Team by the bone crusher brothers!
Image
On the day, I landed 5 Bull Reds and lost one. Although I don't have any good pictures of Dale - he was again very good at catching fish - he caught 5 Reds and lost a couple also. All of the Reds but 3 were caught on cut shad on the bottom. The other 2 were caught on freelined Crab and 1 crab on the bottom.

Here is one of the four Bull Reds that Dewey caught on the day. He would have caught more - but Dewey is quick to pass to pole (or have it grabbed out of his hand) grin.
